Why Choose Romance When Humor Can Take Center Stage?
It’s no surprise that couples often opt for stunning and dreamy engagement photos, especially when they’re ready to embark on a lifelong journey together. However, not every couple seeks that traditional vibe, as demonstrated by this wonderfully quirky engagement session. You’ll want to be best friends with this adorable pair.
When Mia Johnson and Jake Smith approached photographer Alex Thompson of Evergreen Film Co. for their wedding and engagement photos, everything seemed pretty standard. “We met at a cozy café to discuss their vision and answer any questions they might have had before making a decision,” Thompson shared. “Up to that point, it was all quite normal.”
And then everything changed—in the best way possible.
As they began discussing ideas for their engagement photos, Mia and Jake unveiled their plan for a “Superbad” themed shoot that could have easily been featured on the Awkward Family Photos website. “I was practically bursting with excitement!” exclaimed Thompson.
Behold: the Outcome
I’m ready for a do-over on my conventional engagement pictures. This is so much better!
Of course, as Thompson points out, it’s perfectly fine to want those heartfelt and serious moments captured. “Most couples lean toward beautifully cinematic and romantic engagement photos that look like they belong in a magazine. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that; it’s actually my specialty!”
But then comes the twist. “But to have two young, vibrant lovers come to me excited about raiding thrift stores for jorts and sneakers is like a breath of fresh air in the photography industry!”
And you know what? It’s refreshing in nearly every aspect, because these photos are epic.
Thompson recalled, “We shared so many laughs that day! We cracked up during the serious shots and really let loose when they donned their second-hand outfits, embracing the awkwardness!”
Yes, they did take some traditional engagement photos, and they are absolutely stunning.
Apologies, but we definitely prefer the quirky ones!
Ultimately, Thompson was truly impressed by the couple’s sweet connection. “The more I got to know them, the more their love for each other shined through. They’re just perfect together, jorts and all.”
We can only hope for an equally “awkward” wedding day photo collection too!
