We should set aside dedicated time each week for self-care — I advocate for a minimum of 12 hours. This time can encompass workouts, date nights, or even a trip to the salon. Many women scoff at this notion, but with about 112 waking hours in a week, surely you can carve out 12 for yourself. If I can manage it, so can you.

Motherhood brings a lot of anxiety. What’s one thing you’ve discovered isn’t worth the worry?

I see many parents boasting about their children’s milestones — first words at seven months, walking by nine, and so on. Then it turns into accolades for awards in school or sports. Meanwhile, I look at my kids and see regular kids who are perfectly fine. They’re hitting developmental markers in their own time; I wasn’t exceptional either, and I turned out well. They will too, navigating life at their own pace.

When was the last time you used your kids as an excuse to avoid something?

Just five minutes ago.

What’s the least amount of sleep you can function on?

Six hours. Honestly, I need my rest. I struggle without it. But now that my children are older, I’m getting a bit more sleep — not as much as I desire, but that’s on them.
