In a heartwarming display of creativity and love, a couple transformed their wedding into a magical Disney celebration using DIY projects and a bit of imagination. Sarah Collins and Mark Thompson poured their passion for Disney into enchanting decorations and centerpieces that have captured the hearts of many online.
Sarah’s wedding dress was a nod to Disney magic, coming from the renowned Disney Fairytale Weddings collection by Alfred Angelo, inspired by none other than Cinderella herself. But the whimsical decor didn’t stop there. “Sarah really went above and beyond in planning their wedding, finding unique ways to honor their favorite Disney films,” noted talented wedding photographer Lisa Miller.
The ceremony was adorned with a charming woodland theme featuring butterflies, evoking the essence of beloved animated classics such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Alice in Wonderland. With Lisa’s own love for Disney, she was the ideal photographer to document this special occasion.
Much like any Disney fan, the couple struggled to choose just one story to highlight. Their solution? A beautifully themed reception where each table represented a different Disney tale. “The Cinderella table showcased a pumpkin carriage, while the Little Mermaid table featured a snarfblatt and dinglehopper, and the Tangled table was illuminated by lanterns,” Lisa explained.
Among the many creative touches, Sarah crafted a stunning rose adorned with twinkling lights to accompany their Mrs. Potts, Chip, and Lumiere figurines on the Beauty and the Beast table. The head table even featured a miniature Sleeping Beauty Castle to commemorate the spot where Mark proposed. “He popped the question at Disneyland near Sleeping Beauty Castle,” Lisa shared.
After such a romantic engagement, a Disney-themed wedding felt like a natural choice. Sarah expressed her fondness for her bouquet, recounting how the night before the wedding, she and her best friend stayed up late assembling bouquets for the bridesmaids. “By 2 a.m., I was exhausted, so Mark took over and crafted my bouquet,” she revealed.
Their meticulous efforts paid off, with guests thoroughly enjoying the themed tables and mingling throughout the evening. “It was a wonderful way to get everyone interacting,” Lisa remarked.
With the help of family, the couple also had a custom cake made just for them. It featured mini replicas of Carl and Ellie’s chairs from the beloved movie Up, crafted by Sarah’s sister-in-law.
Once the festivities concluded, the newlyweds embarked on their honeymoon at Walt Disney World, embodying the sentiment that Disney is indeed a state of mind. This wedding serves as a delightful reminder that fairy tales can be realized anywhere.
