At this age, toddlers are notorious for putting just about anything in their mouths, yet they often resist the prospect of brushing their teeth. Surprisingly, those little teeth require regular cleaning, and getting your child excited about it can be quite the challenge.

Transforming teeth brushing into a fun activity can significantly reduce the fuss. Consider playing a catchy tune during brushing time, brushing your own teeth alongside your child to encourage them to mimic you, or investing in a colorful, character-themed electric toothbrush. Celebrating the act of spitting into the sink as a fun game or providing your child with a special stool to reach the sink can also motivate them to take part in their dental hygiene routine.

To minimize the risk of cavities, it’s advisable to limit your child’s sippy cup usage to water throughout the day, reserving snacks, juice, or milk for mealtimes. Whenever food is consumed, the body produces acids that can erode tooth enamel over time, leading to cavities.

Tip for Parents: We all have those days when chaos reigns—dinner might be a fast-food treat, or bedtime could be pushed back by hours. It’s okay! Just do your best to show love and care for your little one, even amidst the occasional sugar-laden juice box or missed brushing session.
