Remember that moment when Gene Wilder revealed the enchanting Chocolate Room in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Did you ever dream about tasting those whimsical chocolate toadstools? While we can now buy a Wonka Bar, a Scrumdidilyumptious bar, and an Everlasting Gobstopper (which, let’s be honest, isn’t really everlasting), there are still plenty of fantastical treats from the film that remain a figment of our imagination. We’re eagerly waiting, Wonka—just like the impatient Veruca Salt!
As you reminisce about Wilder’s iconic portrayal of Wonka and all the catchy songs, let’s not forget the delightful memories we want our kids to share. I make my children watch the original film, hoping they’ll sing along to “The Candy Man.” It’s about time Nestlé built a Wonka factory alongside Harry Potter’s Wizarding World, since they own the brand. Why hasn’t that happened yet? I’m ready for that chocolate river, especially after witnessing Grandpa Joe’s miraculous recovery—clearly, chocolate has healing powers! Just imagine all the fun we could have in a chocolate waterfall!
Here’s our wishlist of scrumptious treats from the movie:
- Rainbow Drops
These magical candies let you spit in seven different colors! Mike Teevee’s mom got to try them, and let’s be honest, my two boys would have a blast with rainbow spitball fights. Come on, Wonka, make these happen! - Three-Course-Dinner Gum
Violet Beauregarde famously transformed into an inflatable blueberry after chewing this gum that contained a full meal. Currently, we have gum flavors like Extra Dessert Delights, but none that turn you into a dessert. How about some fried chicken-flavored gum? Think of how many hangry kids we could satisfy! - Exploding Candy for Rivals
Before glitter bombs became a thing, Mike Teevee experienced the thrill of candy that literally launched him across the Inventing Room. Who wouldn’t want some revenge candy? - Fizzy Lifting Drink
Charlie and Grandpa Joe took a sip of this bubbly concoction and found themselves floating. Imagine the fun you could have at parties! I can already see Cristal getting in on the action by mixing their bubbles with a lift kit. - Edible Tulip Teacups
As “The Candy Man” lyrics suggest, “You can even eat the dishes.” These tasty teacups would not only be eco-friendly, but they’d also save me from doing the dishes! Bring on the edible china! - Lickable Wallpaper
Who wouldn’t love the idea of decorating while snacking? Just picture telling the kids to “go lick the walls,” saving time on both cooking and cleaning. Though, I do worry about the germs. - Double Bubble Burp-a-Cola
Not to be confused with the Fizzy Lifting Drink, this fun beverage fueled the Wonkamobile. How great would it be to enjoy a drink that also fills your vehicle? It’s just more entertaining to say! - Wonka Vision
Why can’t we just transport chocolate through our TVs yet? Instead of focusing on drones, Amazon should be prioritizing chocolate delivery.
Since the film debuted in 1971, it’s time for these amazing treats to become a reality. Wonka, we’re awaiting your delightful creations!
