8 Aspects I Long For From My Pre-Baby Body

Do you remember your pre-baby body? The one that could handle late-night adventures and laugh without a care? I certainly do, and I find myself missing it every day. During my pregnancy, I took every conceivable measure to maintain my shape. I practiced pelvic exercises to protect my pelvic floor, slathered myself in oils to ward off stretch marks, and maintained a strict diet—well, aside from the occasional ice cream indulgence. I even invested in specialty bras that promised to keep everything in its place.

While my efforts spared me some challenges, there were still parts of my body that I had to say goodbye to. My petite frame took quite a toll, especially since both of my boys seem to be descendants of giants. My once enviable chest has transformed into what can only be described as deflated balloons. They won’t even make an appearance in a dark room without proper lighting.

Let’s take a look at what I miss:

  1. Breasts: Every mom I know reminisces about her pre-baby breasts. After childbirth, they either become overly large or shriveled—why can’t we find a happy medium? Our chests now resemble deflated tubes or sunburned fruit left out too long.
  2. Nipples: Now they resemble oversized flying saucers. If you’re nursing, good luck with feeling anything, because that’s gone too.
  3. Bladder Control: I used to be the queen of holding it in, but now my bladder dictates my life. Sneezing, laughing, or even coughing requires a silent prayer to the bladder control deities. This has been a common complaint among my fellow moms.
  4. Hair: If you had thick hair before, brace yourself. My once luscious mane has transformed into something resembling feathered wings after months of shedding. I wouldn’t look out of place in an 80’s music video.
  5. Glutes: For reasons unknown, my rear decided to merge with my thighs during my last pregnancy. Sure, I could do thousands of squats, but as a busy mom, when would I find the time?
  6. Feet: With all the changes happening, you’d think my feet would remain the same. Not so! They grew a half size and never returned to normal. So long to all my stylish heels that cost me a fortune!
  7. Memory: Here’s a puzzler: I can recall my childhood phone number, yet I frequently misplace my own phone or keys. It’s as if motherhood has stolen my cognitive abilities.
  8. Stomach: I wasn’t exactly rocking washboard abs before, but I certainly didn’t look like I’d just downed a dozen burritos every day like I do now.

Was it all worth it? Absolutely. Would I go through it all again for my little ones? Without a doubt. While it’s clear I’d do anything for my kids, it would be nice to wear a dress without the need for Spanx and to jump rope with my children without worrying about leaks. I know you feel me on this.
