In a world increasingly populated by robotics, the possibilities for simplifying our lives are endless. While inventions like the Robot Chef, which utilizes a set of advanced robotic arms to create culinary masterpieces (like its renowned crab bisque), are impressive, they can be impractical. It’s a sophisticated contraption, taught by culinary champions using motion-capturing tech, but it requires a perfectly organized kitchen to function. As such, it might not find a home in my cluttered kitchen.
Then there’s the Makr Shakr, an innovative robot bartender that mixes drinks using similar robotic arms. Found on Royal Caribbean ships in their “Bionic Bars,” it certainly shakes things up. However, many patrons cherish the personal touch of a human bartender, making this robot a less appealing substitute.
In a more whimsical vein, we have Tomatan, a peculiar backpack-style robot from Japan that offers you a tomato while you run. While creative, it raises the question: do we really need a tomato-eating assistant during marathons?
What I envision are robots that would genuinely enhance my daily life as a mom. Here’s my list of the top seven robots I wish I had:
- Clothes-Picking-Up Robot
My seven-year-old has a knack for leaving clothes everywhere. I would love a robot that follows her around, picking up garments as they drop, saving me from the never-ending chore of cleaning up after her. - Nagging Robot
Imagine a robot stationed in the kitchen during breakfast, reminding kids to finish their meals or to clean up their toys in the evening. It could even nudge me to stay on task, which I definitely wouldn’t mind. - Multitasking Enabler Robot
If I could have a robot accompanying me with my coffee, holding my iPad to check emails and weather while I get ready, life would be a lot easier. If only Tomatan could serve coffee instead of tomatoes! - Laundry-Folding Robot
This one needs no further explanation—just a miracle worker that folds laundry for me. - Backpack-Checking Robot
A robot that ensures my daughter’s backpack is ready with all necessary items would save me from frantic last-minute searches for field trip forms or forgotten lunch items. - Toilet Paper Roll-Changing Robot
Seriously, why am I always the one to change the roll? There has to be a robot capable of this mundane task. - Deciding-What’s-for-Dinner Robot
The most exhausting part of dinner prep is deciding what to make. A robot that could take that dilemma off my plate would be a lifesaver—unless it suggested crab bisque every night!
