The announcement of a sequel to Disney’s blockbuster hit has parents and kids alike buzzing with excitement. Who can forget belting out “Let It Go” together? Let’s face it, the original film gave us a thrilling reminder of the power of family and introduced us to some catchy tunes that have become embedded in our lives. With the release of the short film “Frozen Fever” earlier this year and “Frozen 2” set to debut in 2017, it’s time to brace ourselves for another round of Elsa and Anna. But let’s not kid ourselves—there are some serious reasons to be apprehensive about this new chapter.

1. Our Wallets Will Suffer Again

Prepare for an avalanche of Frozen merchandise. From dolls and juice boxes to books and even underwear, the original film raked in a staggering $1.274 billion at the box office. And don’t even get me started on the endless stream of products we were pressured to buy. At this point, I feel like Disney should just take my paycheck directly!

2. The Return of That Infamous Tune

Just when we thought we’d finally managed to get that song out of our heads, here comes news of a sequel, bringing back that catchy tune to haunt us once again. Thanks a lot, Disney. If I wanted to carry a Frozen song in my head for eternity, I’d have chosen a better one!

3. Elsa Takeover

Last Halloween, it seemed every little girl was dressed as Elsa, leading to a drinking game being created in her honor. The costume was the most sought after, leaving other characters to wallow in obscurity. It felt like every street corner had a mini-Elsa, and honestly, it was a bit overwhelming.

4. Frozen Fatigue

Ironically, I’m utterly exhausted from discussing Frozen. For the past couple of years, it’s been a constant topic of conversation, spawning countless memes, parody videos, and blog posts. With the short film’s release and the impending sequel, we’re likely in for another five years of obsession. I hit my limit when I found myself debating the complex backstory of Anna and Elsa’s parents—seriously, what have we come to?

5. No Thanks, I Don’t Want to Build a Snowman

Honestly, the last thing I want to do is spend hours in the freezing cold rolling snow into giant balls. It’s -25 degrees outside, and I’d much prefer to play Frozen Monopoly while sipping on a bit of Frozen vodka instead!

6. The Role of a Lifetime

The level of high-pitched singing I now have to maintain while playing with my daughter is astounding. She insists on being Elsa, leaving me to play Anna, who often ends up being the second choice. Poor Anna just wanted to be loved by her sister.

Despite all these grievances, I know I’ll end up watching the sequel—multiple times, no less! By the end, I’ll probably be able to recite the entire film from memory.

In summary, while the excitement of Frozen 2 is palpable, the implications of its release bring a mixed bag of emotions for parents. The prospect of more merchandise, endless discussions, and catchy songs can certainly lead to some dread, but the inevitable joy of watching it with your children is hard to resist.
