5 Unique Summer Camps We’d Love to See

As summer approaches, the excitement of camp season begins to build. While we’ve already secured a spot for my son at a local camp—complete with the usual paperwork—I’m still navigating my emotional rollercoaster. My daughter, only 7, is hesitant about being left out, so we’ll keep her in day camp for now. Recently, I stumbled upon a list of captivating summer camps that included Hollywood stunt training, coding workshops, race car driving, secret agent training, a shark camp in Fiji, roller coaster engineering, and a Harry Potter-themed experience. All of these sound fantastic, but the Harry Potter camp inspired me to brainstorm some unique camps that my kids would adore—and that might even help me, their tired yet devoted mother. Here’s what I came up with:

Percy Jackson Camp (Camp Half-Blood)

If your kids are fans of the Percy Jackson series, this camp would be a dream come true. They’d be assigned cabins named after Greek deities, engage in fun camp competitions, and learn a variety of skills. Imagine them mastering metalwork like Hephaestus, manipulating water like Poseidon, gardening like Demeter, or even studying music and prophecy with Apollo. For the girls, there’s an Aphrodite cabin for those who love all things pink, and an Artemis cabin for the sporty types. My son even has a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt from last Christmas!

Phineas and Ferb Innovation Camp

This camp would be all about creativity! Campers could spend their days inventing wild contraptions, only for them to vanish mysteriously by day’s end. And let’s not forget the catchy camp songs that would accompany their adventures.

Neighborhood Exploration Camp

At the heart of it, this is what my children truly desire. They just need a little guidance. Imagine daily breakfast at their favorite diner, biking around town, visiting the playground, stopping by the candy store for a treat, and grabbing lunch at the deli. This used to be called “summer” in the past, but now it would be a structured camp experience.

Anti-Gravity Experience Camp

Who wouldn’t be fascinated by zero gravity? This camp would teach kids how to move in a weightless environment and even how to eat snacks while floating—just like in those captivating videos from the space station.

Essential Life Skills Camp

This one is top of my wish list! I dream of my kids learning how to cook, clean their spaces, manage their laundry, and pick up after themselves. While other camps may focus on fun activities, this practical camp would equip them with invaluable life skills they will use forever.

In crafting these camp ideas, I’m reminded of the importance of summer fun and family bonding.
