Only 9% believe that children aged 10 can handle flying solo in the back, while 12% think kids need to be at least 12. The majority of respondents agreed that 13-and-a-half is the right age for a child to stay behind while parents sip champagne in peace.
Out of the parents surveyed, 76% have flown with their children, and 55% dread the thought of doing it again. Considering that one-third of parents reported their kids having tantrums at the airport and 36% felt embarrassed by their children’s behavior during family trips, these statistics make sense. Interestingly, more than half of the parents, 55%, expressed sympathy for other travelers, suggesting that a section of the plane should be reserved for families with kids, so others can avoid sitting near them.
This survey, conducted by a private COVID testing company, aimed to gauge parental sentiments about travel during the pandemic. A spokesperson stated that while family vacations are enjoyable, the travel experience can be quite overwhelming. “We love taking our kids on holiday with us, but given the opportunity, many of us would relish the chance for some free time and a bit of luxury at 30,000 feet,” they noted.
