When the baby wails at midnight, and you nudge your husband to help, he stumbles into the kitchen, rifling through the cupboards under the sink.
You: “What are you doing?”
Him: “Huh?” (keeps searching)
You (shouting): “The baby isn’t in the cupboard!”
Him: “Oh. Right.” - At 2 AM, the smoke alarm blares loudly, and when you prod him to turn it off, he remains motionless. You push him and yell, “Shut it off!” He finally jolts awake and starts banging the alarm clock instead of the actual smoke detector.
- He yawns through every gathering or dinner, especially during meetings with your in-laws or important clients.
- In the dead of night, you urgently ask him for the baby’s pacifier, and he leaps out of bed, only to be frozen in place, staring blankly into the dark, completely bewildered.
- Every time he prepares a baby bottle, he loses track of how many scoops of formula he’s added, consistently getting stuck at four, despite needing eight.
- For an entire month, he uses conditioner instead of shampoo, only to realize one day that’s why his hair is so greasy (but at least it’s incredibly soft!).
- He shows up at work wearing your underwear—backwards.
- He proudly serves himself some of the decorative plastic garnishes from the buffet thinking they are a delicacy.
- After a long day at work, you wake up hours later to find he’s missing from bed. You assume he’s on the couch, but instead, you find him asleep on the toilet, head resting against the wall, drool cascading to the floor. The next morning, he has a dark purple mark on his backside.
- As you both endure the sleepless nights of a baby who’s awake from 2 AM to 4 AM, you share the news of another pregnancy. His joy is palpable, and he celebrates in a fetal position on the cold kitchen tiles for a whole hour.
